Rapid method for the isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from experimentally infected mice.
Listeria monocytogenes was successfully isolated from experimentally infected mice by placing homogenized tissues in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), trypsin, peptone, or pepsin followed by incubation at 37 C for 24 hr. A larger number of Listeria isolates were recovered from the trypsin or PBS splenic homogenate suspensions incubated at 37 C for 2 hr than from the other diluent suspensions. Ho...
متن کاملSurvival of Listeria monocytogenes in experimentally infected mice.
Physiological saline was found to be very detrimental to the viability of Listeria monocytogenes. The LD(50) value was substantially reduced when peptone was used as the suspending fluid rather than saline. Normal splenic tissue was not inhibitory to the survival of Listeria. In experimentally infected mice, L. monocytogenes survived for 8 days in the peritoneal cavity and for at least 11 days ...
متن کاملIsolation of Listeria monocytogenes from Meat and Dairy Products
Introduction: This study was intended to determine the presence and distribution of Listeria monocytogenes in various meat and dairy products from Qazvin Province by culture followed by biochemical and morphological assays. The identity of the isolates was further obtained by amplification of prfA gene in bacteria isolates. This gene is a transcriptional activator of virulence gene ex...
متن کاملIsolation of Listeria monocytogenes from raw milk.
During a recent outbreak of listeriosis, we examined 121 raw milk samples and 14 milk socks (filters). Listeria monocytogenes was recovered from 15 (12%) of 121 milk specimens and 2 (14%) of 14 milk socks. The optimal processing method consisted of cold enriching diluted milk for 1 month with culture to selective broth, followed by plating.
متن کاملRapid quantitative detection of Listeria monocytogenes in chicken using direct and combined enrichment/qPCR method
Listeria monocytogenes is a species of foodborne pathogen often related to foods, such as poultry, ready-to-eat products, fruits, and vegetables. The culture method is a standard procedure for the detection of bacteria in food products. The real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) technique can be used for the quantification of foodborne pathogens. The current research was aimed to assess...
